9.0 Beta Release

This release is a test version only. You are welcome to use it and submit feedback, bug reports, and feature requests, but it is truly beta in every sense of the word. Expect bugs, and definitely expect not all features to be available.

The following is planned but is not currently implemented:

  • You can move the groups by holding CTRL and then dragging the header around. When you are dragging, the header is highlighted yellow. I will add the ability to hide said headers in the next update.
  • There are no options. Yes there will be as soon as we can get it implemented, but we chose to implement features first as a priority, and slowly introduce customizations later.
  • Currently there is no limit to bar display. This means that you may in fact get TOO MANY bars shown in places like Battlegrounds. Expect this behavior and plan accordingly. This is not a full production addon, so don't expect to be using it for all of your needs right away.
  • There may be bugs. The timer library used has been customized, and forked. This is pending a release of an updated version of the timer library that I am involved in developing. For now I had to resort to editing the existing library directly to get some of the features and tweaks that I needed.
  • Oh yes, there are bugs. Not necessarily glaring bugs like big red errors or anything, but things you would expect to work properly may not yet. For one thing there is some weirdness to bar expiration on unit death. Expect some abrs to stick around even after that unit dies, but be sure that if that unit comes back and gets a new spell, the appropriate timer will be added / updated. You may notice other weirdness like multiple bars showing for the same spell (AOE anyone?)

Please submit your requests and reports via comments. We are in fact reviewing them and updating things as we go. Now that a beta is out, we can hopefully push more frequent updates to you as we add more features and fix more bugs. Check back often so that you are getting the most up to date version available. Obviously version checking may be one of earlier features to be added...

Someone please tell me the damn slash command! I've tried several commands (/ecb, /necb etc etc), but nothing worked :S. Without a slash command to "lock" it or give em other colors or functions this addon is totally useless :S.

I've noticed the creator doesn't want to update this anymore... Maybe this addon is going to "die" then?

dont know but you can try here:

or can try out these addons to see if you like them.

~Antagonist addon, does exactly what I need it to in an easy to read format and is highly configurable. Check it out on wowace.

this addon does spam alot in party chat if anyone CC is broke.

~RBM addon with AbilityWatch plugin is the closest to NECB in terms of features. You can download RBM from wowace.

~There are plenty of mods that do hot/dot tracking alone. DoTimer is good, Sorren's Timers, HotMan, and ClassTimers.

~One mod I've seen which seems to be quite good and comparable to NECB, and that's RisenBossMods, which has target/focus debuff watching, player buff watching, boss modules, and a module that watches opponents' cds/gains.

~In terms of the PvP end, Afflicted, Antagonist, RWMod all do basically the same thing.

Before anyone start asking question or wondering if they would like to take over this addon project.

    Plz GoTo >> http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info6616-NaturEnemyCastBar.html

Then go click the Comment tab. =P

And post over there so that you have a good idea of whats happening to this Project.
Since there's no need to have a million post here because it's pointless LOL.

    ~Quote from Beladon
"if you want to take this addon over feel free to contact me as such. I am going to go ahead and end development otherwise. I don't have time to do this alone, and as I have already stated previously, I can't seem to get any assistance on it. I will check comments to that end until a new developer is found.

The wowi svn has the latest development version. Hopefully anyone who picks up development will see where I was going with it. I can give any notes and thoughts on the features to that person at that time, and then leave it to them to finish development."

For some reason, I have the words "cast bar" in a black box in the middle of my screen after downloading NECB, and I can't find away to make it disappear.

    Any ideas?

The Black Boxes are from "NaturCombatTimers". Just turn the addon off to have them removed

I've got a version where everything seems to work fine, however the only real problem I'm having with it is that "moveable bars" function doesn't work.

Is the author of this add-on still alive? If so, can you update us on progress, or lack there-of? If you're dumping the add-on, can I take it over? Please let me know.

I read somewhere that there is supposed to be a new author that is picking up this project. Does anyone know if this is in fact true? I really miss being able to use the timer to tell when a CC would break and track re-spawns in raids.

  • June 10, 2008, 10:36PM (3 weeks, 3 days ago)

This is true, and this is where the beta has come from. However, there hasn't been an update in 2 months which either suggests it's getting a HUGE workover or the dev's are too busy/uninterested in fixing it up anymore.

    Shame either way.

I'd like to use this new updated mod...unfortunately I have no mini map button to click to get the config menu to come up nor is there any documentation on what the slash command is to make the config menu to appear. Any help? Oh and the mod is installed correctly as all of the various bars are appearing on my screen...but all I can do is move them around...I can't do anything else with them.

    /necb is slash command

  • June 9, 2008, 04:27PM (3 weeks, 4 days ago)

No, /necb does not work any more

  • June 6, 2008, 01:12AM (4 weeks ago)

I really loved this addon. One of most helpful addons ever made. I like the 'old style' more than "Natur EnemyCastBar 20400.9.0 Beta" tbh.
It still wroks, but it has problems with reading combat-log (Sap, stuns, Hots [You need to put HoT on your target twice to make it appear on bar], Removal of HoT from bar after using Swifmend) and stuff. I guess it's not much work, because addon reads and shows it, but you need to use it twice to make it appear. Beladona i hope you will be able to get it addon working again :)
    Best wishes

It works ok but it is nowere near the pinnacle it once was.
The most important feature I need back is the cooldown timers for mages Ice block and paladins bubbles. I used to depend on them to time my fears perfectly after it finished not giving them a chance.

  • June 2, 2008, 07:50PM (1 month ago)

it is uneasy to leave such a good addon

is there any addon like this?

  • June 4, 2008, 12:39AM (1 month ago)

    Try RWMod

Actually Afflicted2 seems better at this stage

  • June 3, 2008, 12:49PM (1 month ago)

    RBM with the plugin AbilityWatch

  • June 1, 2008, 06:38AM (1 month ago)

Hey, used to be, when I sapped someone, the timer would go up. Now the timer barely ever goes up. It's been this way for a few months... any ideas?
