KLHThreatMeter

KLHThreatMeter is like a damage meter, except it records your threat. By monitoring all the abilities you use and checking your talents, armour set bonuses and buffs, the addon can recreate the threat list of a mob. This makes tank transitions simple, and allows DPS to maximise their damage without pulling aggro.

Note: due to the intricacies of threat, it is only possible to accurately determine your own threat, because you don't know what talents other players are using; also some abilities can only be detected by the player who uses them. Therefore everyone in your party or raid group needs the addon installed to have their threat appear on the table. In practice only the tanks and DPS need to have the addon, healers might use it to check upcoming tank transitions or warn DPS who are going too high.

The Master Target

Often in fights there are several mobs active, but only one is important for threat considerations, for example a boss and his adds. You can specify that only threat against one specific mob will be recorded by setting a master target. To do this, target the important mob and click the master target button on the main window (it looks like the hunter's mark icon). You should see the name of the mob in the top line of the header frame.

To remove the master target, clear your target then press the master target button again. For most boss mobs the target will be cleared automatically on death, but sometimes it is necessary to do it manually.

Note: only the group leader or raid assistants can set the master target.

Graphical Interface

The main window has two parts: the header, which holds the buttons and basic information, and the table, which shows the threat list.

Note: currently you can only move the window by dragging the header, not the list part.

You can minimise the window, which hides the threat list. Then you will see only the name of the master target, your position in the threat list (e.g. "3 / 10") and the buttons. Click the options button to bring up the help menu. Here you can change many options about the frame's colour scheme and layout.

Command Line Interface

Not all commands are currently available from the Help Menu or main window. To access the command line interface, type /ktm (or also /klhtm or /klhthreatmeter). This will print a list of commands and subtopics. Type the command as printed for more help.

Note: all commands can be abbreviated as much as possible as long as they are still distinguishable. Instead of "/ktm test threat" you can type "/ktm t th". The shortcuts are indicated by the first few letters of each command which are light blue.

Localisation

As new abilities, items and boss encounters are regularly being added to the game, the localisation files need frequent updating for KTM to work well in all locales. The addon is currently localised for English (enUS), French (frFR), German (deDE), Spanish (esES), Simplified Chinese (zhCN), traditional Chinese (zhTW) and Korean (koKR). However not all localisations are up to date.

In particular Chinese and Korean localisations are a bit behind, the others are mostly good. Any updates would be greatly welcomed.

Work In Progress

In The (maybe distant) Future

The ultimate goal is to have multiple master targets, arbitrarily many. Each would have a separate threat list and a separate window (the last is possible already).

Then i'd like to eliminate the command line interface in place of the new help menu.

It sounds like the author has abandoned this project. I hope someone picks it up.

As a long time KTM user and guild master, I'm sorry to say that our guild will be moving from KTM to Omen this week. I detest the Omen interface, but there are simply too many bugs present in KTM as it stands, and the lack of updates or feedback vs the continuous work on Omen have made it impossible to justify sticking with this addon. I suspect this is a similar story to many and recent recruits to the guild have been amazed we've stuck with KTM this long. 2 months without update or feedback when there are some pretty glaring issues was the killer, sorry.

Though I am not very like it, but I have to say: now KTM IllidanelMod V4.24 supports send/receive threat messages from/to ThreatLib-2.0 then support communicates with Omen2...
You know where to got it...

Sigh ... curse hates me. Lost my entire post.. Okay for the redo.

My biggest question here is, "Is Kenco going to update KLH ThreatMeter anytime soon?"

It has been well over a month since the last update, which did nothing to fix/repair most of the real issues that have sprung up since the 2.4 patch. While I understand people have real lives and are busy, a little communication on the status of the once best addon for WoW is needed. The sheer number of errors I get as a tank every raid is only increasing. Not to mention the number of fights that KTM is flat out not even useful because of the huge bugs in how it currently manages fights with threat wipes or immunity phases (re: Gurtogg).

No offense to Illidanel but the fact that the website for his "fanmod" that supposedly fixes some of these issues is in Chinese and i do not read that language makes it awfully hard for me to understand what has been changed as well as to trust the content of said website.

So once again, I beg for some sort of communication either way. Is KTM a dead project? Is it alive and just on a ventilator while Kenco deals with real life? Like I said before, we all deserve not to have to deal with "stuff" but a little communication is customary. Thank you.

It's been months now since I've requested that a less intrusive error reporting system is used,
or at least we're given an option to disable the error popup.

I understand that error reporting is an important part of addon development,
and I applaud the author's intent to "wrap" errors from the addon so they don't spam the error frame.

However the implementation couldn't be worse:
KLM errors on every boss with threat wipe or respawn mechanics
(Attumen + Midnight, Romulo & Julianne and all the way up to higher tier raid instances)

Imagine being a tank in a raid encounter and having a huge mouse capturing frame blocking half your screen
on the exact moment of the threat wipe or target clear that you need to react fast (re-target, frontload threat etc).
It's the stuff that makes you swear at your monitor.

Can we please get an option to disable that fecking huge mouse capturing popup frame?

Maybe redirect to default chat frame, or add an error indicator icon on the KTM main window
alongside the options, mastertarget etc icons that you can use as an indicator that an error has been captured
and you can press after the fight to see and copy paste the error?

For those as annoyed as me by the errorframe from hell,
    Open up
    \KLHThreatMeter\Code\Services\KTM_ErrorLog.lua
    in a text editor.
Goto to lines 326 and 346 (both should read me.frame:Show())
and put -- infront (this will comment them out).
Save the file and reload your game.

Now the KTM IllidanelMod has updated to V4.10.2, the mod now has so many features
The list is still on http://bbs.game.mop.com/viewthread.php?tid=1698718 though u need to read chinese
Mainly, the V4.10.2 could compatible with the original KTM(though just can read), and fix the long standing Paladin's Righteous Defense problems.

Greetings! Now IllidanelMod had ahead to V4.0, and the version is a "Pet Edition" version
Clearly I have add the Pet threat at the very mod version
    anyone could found it at
    http://bbs.game.mop.com/viewthread.php?tid=1698718

Though it was sadly uncompatible with other older KTM versions, of the communication protocol changes for the pet threat send/receive and full GUID usages

  • May 27, 2008, 08:47PM (1 month, 1 week ago)

Only hunter himself needs to see pet threat solo, so you can make it local only and not announce to a raid at all - not like pets are tanking something in a group scenario anyway. This way you can avoid protocol changes

  • June 1, 2008, 12:22PM (1 month ago)

and warlocks solo'ing need to see there pet threat

  • May 23, 2008, 12:25PM (1 month, 1 week ago)

Haven't seen much from Kenco recently, is there an addon website with more recent / development version of the addon?

  • May 23, 2008, 07:30PM (1 month, 1 week ago)

no. you can try to pm him on his server ofc, but hes probably getting tons of pms anyway )
Illidanel mod seems to be fixing quite some bugs, so it is wise to use it atm

  • May 21, 2008, 08:36AM (1 month, 2 weeks ago)
