About SW Stats

SW Stats (named after our guild Shadow Warrior) is a damage/heal (and more) meter addon designed to be very customizable in what you want to see with a built-in Sync channel that is running in the background. The design here is especially geared towards raid groups, but also has useful info for soloers. (A few of my testers respecced after seeing the numbers).
Want to know which healer in your raid healed which target? Or want to know by whom your MT was healed and for how much? Want a pure damage list or heal list? Want to know what the main school (fire, ice etc.) was that your raid made damage with, or was damaged by? Want to know what skills that guy used? Want to know if that mob mainly did arcane or fire damage?
AND do you want a lot of this info synced IN-Fight ? you found SW Stats :)

In tests it has shown that about 5 people running this addon in a raid are enough to get good numbers, no more "to far away it didn't see your damage/heal" crap, if more people have it installed it's even better.
By default this Addon has an English and German localization, but it should work with any other language (feedback on that is very welcome).

Quickstart:
Install SW Stats, click on the Icon anchored to the Minimap, or use /sws bars (/sws balken with the German client).
Hit something, heal somebody and play around with the Settings (S) (or (E) with the German client.)

Type /sws ? to see a summary of available commands. You won't need most of them. What is important though is that all reporting functions write to the console, not the chat channel.

Installation Guide

Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
  - Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
  - WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
  - WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
  - StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
Start World of Warcraft
Make sure AddOns are installed
- Log in
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.

Translations

When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".

TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)

When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.

If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support

WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

I'm getting some very strange numbers for the "Mana Efficiency" of Maul. It's coming up psychotically higher than it should be given its rage cost and its "Average Effects" reading.

I've been using SWS ever since, but now, since 2.4.x it causes severe client freezes kinda frequently, it is a real pity. it must be something in the code as I tested it alot with no other addons active, its appears the freezes occur randomly and once SWS is off the addons list, the client runs w/o any stutterings or freezes.

My sw stats show up fine and looks right but it doesn't register any damage or healing neither from myself or anyone else.

Hello!

There is a big problem. Sw windows don't show up on my screen when am playing with my main char, but they perfectly pops up when am playing with my twinks!! :SSS

I've tryed everything! Reinstalled SW too

I use this addon specifically for the swl plugin. It stopped working! I can bring it up with the usual /swl command, but it is not recording anything. When I change the font size it flashes the new size for a second with the word "entry" in every column/ row and then it goes blank again. I tried deleting and re downloading; and disabling all other addons. Still nothing. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it? Or know a comparable addon?

i cannot report the damage anymore...

when i click the r-key in swstats nothing happens, and sometimes the wow client crashes...
no keystrokes are recognized then, so i have to restart wow...

okay crazy one here. how do yu get the panel back that was up to begin with taht displays the spells used and to whom. i have looked everywhere and opened everything and i can't find it. i want it back.. :(

I really like this addon but there is one thing that keeps annoying me...when I am in raid I can't reset damage done. I get a warrning that only raid leader can do it.
Is there any way to go around with it to see for example damage done on single encounter?

type /sw rv, this will send out a vote to everyone running SW_Stats. If the raid leader is not running SW Stats, it will automatically reset your info.

Last update was the 2 months ago. I guess this addon won't be getting fixed anytime soon. Unfortunate because this was my favorite damage meter addon.

I have 2 problems..
1. I can't get the pets dmg to show up separate to my hunter's dmg.
2. When you click show console, the console window is not big enough to fit all of the check boxes in it.

Does anyone know if there's a way to keep SWS from syncing? I've looked high and low over and over and can't find a way. It seems an option should be there so I keep looking but don't come up with anything.

EDIT:
Ok, I think I finally understand. You're forced to merging timelines in order to "undo" a sync. Do I understand correctly? I'd like to be able to just turn off the sync feature if so desired, but I can handle it as is. I think I've finally decided to go with SWS over Recount!
